KCWC Day 2

Day 2: 5.05pm to 6.20pm
PA090334
Yes, woops over one hour today! Tonight I did make some further progress with the check pants for Oliver and am confident that I might even be able to finish them tomorrow.  I did have a few moments tonight where I wondered whether I am actually sewing the material the wrong way around - but I'm running with it..

To liven the sewing up a bit I also made a quick 'kerchief' which I'll add to the pile of things to sell for the preschool fete craft stall (after I can remove it from Elliot).  When Elliot was a baby (and toddler) he wore these all the time (though unfortunately never a Dr Suess one).  In my humble opinion they are far more classy than a bib or a wet tshirt from baby drool.  Hopefully someone at the fete will think the same.

Unfortunately, I cut the material out a bit 'upside down Miss Jane' but never mind.  I think it is still pretty adorable.  I seem to have quite a bit of Dr Suess material in the stash which I'll use up for the fete so prepare for more Dr Suess creations.

sunday sewing dr suess style

I made some progress today on the pleated pants.  Well I cut out the pattern and fabric. I'm still trying to work on not rushing things!  A super neat feature of the pattern is the hole in each of the pattern pieces so that you can hang them up.  I took full advantage of this!

I am in charge of the craft stall at this year's preschool fete (!!!!?)  It's not til the 27 October, but thought I'd try something with the laminated dr suess material I had in the stash.  The original plan was to make little zipper bags out of it, but after reading this  article and finding my own zipper foot rated as 'the worst', I decided to go for a bit of relaxing Sunday sewing.  So I tried my hand at making some bunting.
Yes bunting.  My first ever! I'm thinking that even if it doesn't sell at the fete, then it will make some nice decoration for the stall.

I'm sure as the sewing heats up for the preschool fete, I will post more items, but I will try not to bore you too much!

some fabric purchases and a work in progress

I popped into the sale at Addicted to Fabric yesterday and picked up a few bits and pieces.
First up, Landis C Tana Lawn Liberty SS 12 inspired by the Art Deco architecture in the film "Metropolis".  Think I will make a little top out of this.

Next up,  Viola B Tana Lawn from the AW12 Embellishment story. I plan to make a mini dress out of this.

And also a couple of 'kids' fabrics for different things.. Robert Kaufmann, Celebrate Dr Seuss (in PVC!!) and Happy Dreaming by Ed Emberley for Cloud 9 Fabrics. Cloud 9 are really doing some great stuff.  I saw this one while waiting in line and couldn't resist the look on that dragon.  I often 'wrap' presents in a little bag and this fabric is perfect for little big boys.

And here is my work in progress.. Just the front done so far... but I am loving this skirt!  Unfortunately I have a bit of housework to do before I get back to any sort of sewing and Elliot has been screaming all night with an ear ache, so off to the doctors for us this afternoon.
