In the works - A Malvarosa dress

Have you seen the latest pattern by Pauline Alice, the Malvarosa DRess?  She was inspired by the babydoll dresses by Balenciaga.  Oh, it is such a cute pattern and one that looks nice and easy and straightforward with no complicated closures. And just check out those hidden pockets in the skirt!

I've just cut out the sleeveless version in Liberty Ranga A from the Liberty Art Fabrics Collection AW 13 Seen.  This fabric is unexpectedly Christmasy so it might turn out to be a perfect Christmas lunch dress... nice and loose:)

I agree with Kathryn that cutting out really is the worst part of a project.  But it's done and now I'm on to the fun part.
#sewliberty

It will be so nice to be back sewing in Liberty after two jersey projects.  Jersey really isn't my favourite fabric.  I may have also bought some more Liberty on Sunday from Tessuti... woops!

  5. I love the little houses! And loathe beyond all measure the process of cutting out too. It always feels like a very inconvenient step towards putting needle and thread to fabric. Loose Xmas dress? Winner!

  9. Wow, your fabric choice is amazing Kirsty! Those little houses are so cute! And I can vouch for the "lunchability" of the dress, I ate a big paella last Sunday and it was so nice not to have any waistband cutting through my full belly ;)
    I'm sure you'll look fabulous!

  10. I'm so interested to see how this turns out. The pattern looks very stylish and I love the Liberty print - those houses are adorable! While the actual sewing is still my favorite part of making things, I really enjoy the precision of tracing and cutting. It's kind of meditative or maybe I'm just odd :). It's the marking that I don't like. Some day I have to make something out of Liberty after seeing all the lovely things you sew up with it!

  11. Oh I wish I was like you Shar. I do like taping and cutting the pattern (for pdfs) I find that very meditative. You really must make a blouse or something in Liberty one day.

  13. Hi Kirsty. It was lovely to run into you today. My blog is my-zee-moo.blogspot.com.au. It's very much in its infant stage - I've only just begun. Your Matilde blouse in liberty was even more lovely in person :)
