August sewing: I hope to get busy with Gertie

After seeing Anna's sailor blouse that she whipped up using Gerties Sailor Blouse course on Creative Bug, I have been keen as, to whip up the same using the L'Estrange fabric I purchased at Tessuti
.
Sadly, I bought the class, printed out all the pattern pieces, washed the fabric and was ready to go,  but found it difficult to match the print outs and couldn't find the sizing chart so, in a moment of frustration and desperation  just..... ended up buying Gerties book so that I could get the pattern. I know, I know, I could have just fumbled through, but it was the principle of the matter. So now I wait for the book to arrive.

I also bought a piece of fabric from Shaukat which I'm also waiting on. I justified my purchase after finishing off in record time two projects using recent purchases.   I've got a feeling I might make a shirt dress - Amy made a great one which you should check out if you haven't already , but I think I might go with something like the one Sallie made.  I guess I'll have a better feeling for what I should make when the fabric arrives. But I wait for that too.

So, I might get on with something tomorrow, I have a couple of projects which I could start, and there is also the Sewcial Bee tomorrow, but for now, I'm lethargically snuggling up with my lap blanket...

  1. I have made a couple of orders from Shaukat lately. Their selection is pretty huge and I find it kind of addictive! I can't stop stroking the Liberty Lawn now that it's arrived and I'm terrified to cut into it, it's so beautiful. What print did you get? Can't wait to see!

  2. This is my first purchase from them, and all going well, I can see it becoming addictive because their range is just so good. I bought Joy and Sorrow (Liberty) from the latest collection as I haven't been able to find anyone stocking that particular fabric in Australia. Sewing with Liberty is lovely, you will love it!!!

  3. I've made up two dresses from my first Liberty order and they've become real favourites. It's the second batch that's waiting on my sewing table to be transformed now! By the way if you email and ask, Shaukat will give you the tracking number for your parcel. For some reason they didn't include it with my order confirmation. Helps with peace of mind!

  4. I'd love to see your liberty dresses - which fabric - what pattern did you use - do you have a blog? (100 questions:) Thanks for the info on the tracking number. I must admit I have been wondering whether the fabric is in transit yet!

  5. One dress is in Dancing Ladies, the other one is Picardie. Now I have Kayoko and Ellie Ruth waiting to be made into things, and my mum wants a top in Irma! I have been considering a blog for a while, I just need to get my act together with photos. I'll keep you posted! In the mean time, loving your makes!

  7. Thanks for the link lady!! I totally love Sallie's blue number too. A good shirt dress is comfortable and can be dressed up or down I reckon.

  8. I had the same problem with the pdf print-out and just gave up. I hope it goes well once you get the book! It really is such a cute top.

  9. I'm glad that it wasn't just me as I was starting to feel a bit stupid. Disappointingly I never heard back from Creative Bug after 2 emails but anyway, my book arrived yesterday so I'm ready to start again!
