8 May 2012 - Ornithology ('a girl like you')

P5070513

Despite it being pretty darn cold this morning, I am wearing my beautiful bird top - I work in an office which is heated - and I run around a lot - and I have a cardi and coat on hand, so I should be warm enough!

Following on from yesterday's Liberty print chosen by Florence Welch, I'm wearing another top from the Liberty Art Fabrics AW11 season, Ornithology.  I just had to have this fabric and finally bought it online from Patchwork on Central Park after searching around, with money I got for my birthday last year.

The top is a very simple pattern, top C from the nani IRO book.  I thought a simple pattern would be best for this fabric to show off the print.  It has a slightly reworked (and slightly dodgy) neck.
I never know if this top (and the print) makes me feel happy or sad but I do love it.
Here's the information from the Liberty website about this amazing print by Edwyn Collins:

Ornithology Liberty Print was designed from sketches by Edwyn Collins, who was best known for fronting Scottish rock revivalists Orange Juice and for his international solo hit: 'A Girl Like You.'
In 2005 Edwyn suffered a severe cerebral haemorrhage that he took six months to recover from. As part of his rehabilitation he drew a bird a day, each of which has been used by the Liberty Fabrics Team in this remarkable print. The design created pays homage to Collins’ dedication, like a sketchbook on fabric complete with names of birds and dates when they were drawn.
