Mathilde in progress

Banksia, Briar and knicker bockers
Today I wore my new Briar, despite the weather being too hot for a jumper for as long as I could possibly stand the heat. Do you do that? Wear something even though it isn't exactly weather appropriate but because you just made it and love it and want to wear it? This photo, my latest addition to Carolyn's Navel-Gazing Fashion Blogger's Society photo collection sees me wearing my Banksia again (photo shows the material slightly better..) and my knickerbockers.  The last time I wore them I said they were on their last legs and now they really are! But they were my small salute to the hot weather.
I also stole a bit of time and worked on my Mathilde blouse.

It is coming together although I did have some problems with the pintucks.  I measured and measured them but for some reason they still turned out wrong.  Anyway, all fixed now and my material is very forgiving.  It's nice to be working with Liberty again.
Shoulders and sides are together and it seems to fit ok, so tomorrow I might pop down to the fabric store and find some buttons.

  1. Navel-gazing Society? What did I miss? :D
That Mathilde is looking good. The fabric is awesome! And I do wear my just-made things straight away, despite the weather or the ocasion. It would be a crime not to! :)

  3. I don't think it's an official society - yet - Merche, otherwise you'd need to start taking some self feet shots and join!!

  4. Oh, I am a bit frightened of both of those things - with good reason I think after my experience with the pin tucks and now I've got the buttons,,,, deep breath. Your tiramisu is lovely so no wonder you wore it straight away!

  5. Lovely fabric and I bet the finished blouse will be the same. I've been following Tilly's posts and am seeing these popping up on blogs, but I don't know that I'm ready to handle the buttons and the pintucks just yet. I finished a Tiramisu dress last month and wore it the next day even though it's still winter here. Not wearing it would have been like staring at wrapped presents without being able to open them.

  8. I love the tick boxes Tilly they are great. I also love how you hem the blouse before the sleeves. I'm making good progress. I've just got the buttons and sleeves to go. Looking goooood :)

  9. You did an awesome job on the Charlotte invisible zip and lining so I know you'll have no problem! The tiramisu is so comfy - like wearing pjs to work. I preordered Cake Pattern's Pavlova. Steph has a cute idea that I think you would like. She's shipping the patterns out in bright colored envelopes that she'll use to sort sew-alongers into 'houses'. Very Harry Potter!

  10. I love your confidence. I just found the best paisley indigo dyed denim at the fabric shop - while looking for buttons, which I think will make a great charlotte skirt for winter here... and it won't need to be lined or have a hand stitchem hem. Yay! Oh I love that idea from Cake Patterns. She is so fun and has such great ideas.
