I'm a bit down on the sew jo at the moment. I can't seem to decide on a project. But... I just saw
this skirt by Richard Nicoll on The Outnet. I just love this skirt (and how about those shoes :)). I love the sewn down pleats. A lot more flattering on me I think than just a straight circle skirt. Sadly, this isn't in my size.
Does anyone know a pattern that would sort of match this so I can make my own?
This skirt reminds me of a dress I made except it had pleats on just one side. It may be possible to make the skirt part and add a waistband.... here is the link to the dress I made..http://creatinginthegap.blogspot.ca/2013/05/mmm-day-12-mothers-day.html and one to the pattern details.. http://mccallpattern.mccall.com/m6433-products-14880.php?page_id=96
ReplyDeleteHope this helps... :)
Draft it!
ReplyDeleteHi, it looks like an a-line skirt or straight skirt so if you have a pattern for one, just block the pleats into it.. very easy to do. I'd block pleats into the back too.. I hate party in the front and plain on the back.
ReplyDeleteI think you can draft it. I´m sure! What Sofie M says makes a lot of sense!
ReplyDeleteKwik Sew 3852 is close if you find self-drafting a bit daunting. I'm you'd find this style in a Burda magazine too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gail - the self drafting did feel a big daunting. Thanks for the pattern. It looks like it could definitely work!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Margo - that is such a lovely dress... might need to bookmark that for another day :)
ReplyDeleteMmmmm.. maybe....
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha ha. So true!! Can't let the front have all the fun
ReplyDeleteThanks for the vote of confidence Merche - think I'll still look for a 'close enough' pattern.
ReplyDeleteWhat if you made this just longer:http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern_store/patterns/a-plus-a-line-by-twinkle-by-wenlan
ReplyDeleteA bit different but I am sure you could do some slashing to the pattern and add a few more pleats?
Thanks Brooke! That might just work :)
